The 2nd Steppe Forward Technical Conference was held at the Autonomous University of Madrid. The day focused on the importance, management and implementation models of compensatory measures for photovoltaic projects. Representatives of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, of the Community of Madrid, as well as scientific and business spheres participated as speakers at the conference, which led to a great participation success with more than 250 attendees.
The conference frames the Chair's main objective by promoting a fair energy transition through photovoltaic production that is respectful of steppe biodiversity conservation. The different speakers discussed the importance of compensatory measures in the framework of environmental impact statements and the challenges for their correct implementation from a general perspective and then addressed specific measures such as the creation of water points, conservation and protection of endangered flora and habitats, or the criteria for the placement of nesting boxes.
